Login problem after updating plugins (1 post)

I upgraded four plugins last night - Akismet, and, if I recall correctly, WP-polls, Google Analytics and one other. Akismet is the only which appears in my wp-content/plugins folder, so I assume it's the only one which is active (correct me if that's not necessarily true). After updating I got the following error at the top of my blog: Warning: Missing argument 2 for wp_widget() in /homepages/30/d83640572/htdocs/roadtograndmaster/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 76

I left it overnight and when I try to log in today it gives me the following error: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /homepages/30/d83640572/htdocs/roadtograndmaster/wp-includes/widgets.php:76) in /homepages/30/d83640572/htdocs/roadtograndmaster/wp-login.php on line 354

(This is repeated 6 times with different line number.)

I've done some searching and found some topics which may be of help:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/modifying-widget-functions-within-a-theme
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-3-installation-issue
    http://www.quora.com/WordPress/How-do-I-fix-a-missing-argument-2-for-wp_widget

My guess is that renaming the Akismet folder would deactivate it and solve the problem, but I'm not experienced in this area and am scared of completely breaking my blog!

Any help would be much appreciated.
