After a long day at work yesterday, I was closing out tabs and got an error popup when I switched to the tab with my WordPress dashboard. Invalid something... I just clicked to get out, shut down, and go home. Now I can't login anymore. DOH!! I think the only thing I did on that site that day was update plugins.

    The site is: http://helpwithyourwater.com/

I've run down all the possible solutions I could find:
cleared cash, made sure cookies were enabled
deactivated plugins by renaming folder via ftp
    deleted theme
    restored theme with previous backup
    deleted .htaccess
    updated site URL
    ripped out hair

As a result of my tinkering or the initial problem (I'm not sure), the home page loads, but all the subpages give 404 errors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used the instructions listed here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL for editing functions.php. After making the changes that they recommended, I tried logging in again. When it didn't work, I took the lines back out.

    - You'll have to access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin and check siteurl and home values. If they don't match what you have in the dashboard settings, manually change the siteurl and home values back.

if you find no problem there, then Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and renaming your WordPress .htaccess file. If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again.

    - BTW, if you haven't already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. It's a great safety net.

It was one of the plugins. I contacted my host, and they deactivated the plugins and all the sudden the login worked again. I've deleted some that I wasn't using and reactivated the others. The problem hasn't reoccurred. Once I could login, I went to Settings>Permalinks and just saved the same setting. Everything seems to be fine now.

Even though this was not their fault, the folks over at Blue Host were phenomenal about helping me fix it. I can't say enough good things about them.
