    Can’t login in
Can’t access my dashboard. not thru any browser or computer, though my host says they can? siteground.com

hope someone can guide me thru this enormous problem

Have had problems since siteground had some kind of attack a month or so ago.
    But suddenly now can’t login.
siteground support and i have exchanged tickets on this. and they said do the backup, dump, before doing any re-install or upgrade. done.

Safari can’t open the page “http://blog.talesofkingtut.com/wp-login.php” because it could not load any data from this location.

When I try it with firefox, get totally blank page, no code in view source.
Firefox may have contributed to this problem.

have gone through just about every routine, from changing password thru phpadmin, deleting hundreds of cookies, resetting browser cache & history,

got some widgets, etc. off , will finish that , but hope someone can guide me thru this enormous problem

Think maybe one of my new scripts may cause problems, am taking them off. one at a time.

    MySql version 4.1.21-standard-log

    PHP version 5.0.5

    Joomla 1.012

    wordpress 2.1.3
Ready to do upgrade to 2.2, but our fantastico doesn’t have it yet.

is it better to do a manual install? for the new wordpress 2.2 ‘Getz” version?

    Site in trouble:
    http://blog.talesofkingtut.com/

    Siteground.com on linux server, shared,
    Powerbook MAC OSX 10.3.9
    Safari 1.3.2
    Firefox 2.0.0.3

already did the backup and MySQL dump

    in w-_config.php file
do I need to change this, add ‘en’ ?
12 // chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
13 // For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’
14 // to enable German language support.
    15 define (‘WPLANG’, ”);
    16
The reason I ask, because in my phpadmin

all my wordpress things have language set as: ‘1latin_swedish’
do not know where that came from or if or how to change it, tried.

hope someone can guide me thru this enormous problem,
thanks in advance for looking and any advice or guidance.

have already searched all the forums.

  • Don’t change anything in wp-config. If there is anything you don’t understand, you shouldn’t touch it. Ever. That’s called WP basics 101 (and common sense).

I can see your login page – so mabe you should clear your cache. (or do a hard refresh: Ctrl + F5)

I already messed it up. reloaded a ‘fresh wp-config.php” and it was from an older version, so the page is f@#$ed.

but have gone round and round with support from siteground.

    and gotten just about nowhere.

I cleared cache several times as I stated above. restarted. cleared a lot of cookies. not all.
and what about that language thing in my phpadmin?
why swedish? how did that get in there?

Had NO problems with siteground until they got attacked about a month or so ago. now all kinds of things, email problems, now spam in a once spam free account.

And the wordpress editor sometimes won’t save.
    Now can’t login.

Read others probelms, with the new version 2.2, and upgrading to solve a similar problem didn’t help.

so before I try to do it on my own, (manual) I’m trying to fix the access problem.

Support said they could see login, so can I, just get that Safari message when I try to login:

Safari can’t open the page “http://blog.talesofkingtut.com/wp-login.php” because it could not load any data from this location.

and when I try login with Firefox, get a totally blank page, with no code in the source.
Same thing on our other computer, another mac OSX 10.4 firefox and safari.
Been checking out Tom’s page MacHouse.

maybe one of my visitor’s comments.

Resolved! This was not MY Mistake!

It seems there was a “Ghost in the Machine”

SiteGround found a “Kernal” in our machine (?). and fixed the problems this morning.

I can now access my WordPress Dashboard. after getting new password, which was sent.

    All that grief for nothing!

Siteground users have been complaining for over a month now. some fixes were done, but more problems kept arising. Like my not being able to login to one part of the website, the blog subdomain.
