I installed WordPress in a subdirectory of my hosted site. When I call up the site http://www.catalina380.org/newwebsite all I get is a list of files on the site.

I tried entering http://www.catalina380.org/newwebsite/index.php and got the site but then any link, i.e. selecting Dashboard from the menu, takes me to the file list and not the site.

I have tried http://www.catalina380.org/newwebsite/wp-admin and also http://www.catalina380.org/newwebsite/wp-admin/login.php and just get a file list.

    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanksin advance for your help.
    Tom

More info: When I try: http://www.catalina380.org/newwebsite/wp-login.php I get the login screen but once credentials are accepted, I get the file list.

It sounds as if you dont have the handler set up correctly to display php pages as indexes for directories.

    I hope the link helps!

I did a search for httpd.conf and didn't find it in any of the WordPress directories. Where would it be found. Remember this is a hosting site. I have a support request in to them too but haven't heard anything from them.

Your httpd.conf file will not be in your WordPress files. It's a server file. Depending on the type of hosting you have will determine if you have access to it. However, it may be wise since this is a server related issue that you wait for your hosting provider to get back to you.
