    Hi,

I ran a guitar blog called LickThatRiff on the domain http://lickthatriff.com but unfortunately I let the domain expire and since then somebody else has purchased that domain.

I am posting this question as I would like to know how to log in to my wordpress admin so that I can now transfer that site to the new domain at http://lickthatriff.co.uk

If you visit the .co.uk address you should be able to see all of my wordpress content just without any CSS.

Is my old wordpress admin lost now?

    Thanks

Is the site still available on your hosting account? If so, have you asked your hosts if they can provide you with a temporary url until you register a new domain name?

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

I have always had my site hosted on HostGator so in theory the site should still be there shouldn't it? I made four backups of my site to HostGator before all this happened but can't seem to find them in my cPanel. The only backups I have are ones they've made since I changed to the lickthatriff.co.uk domain.

I'm not sure I understand why I need a temporary URL when I have already got the .co.uk account?

    Thanks

You need to check on this via Hostgator.

It is probably not be associated with your WordPress site. First - find out if the site is still at Hostgator.

Hmmmm I've got some back up files on my HostGator file manager but they're .tar.gz and .sql.gz files.

I'm really pretty novice at this so not sure if that would be my site backed up. These backups are from dates before the domain was sold.

I'm not sure how I would check this?

If I go to the hostgator file manager I have folders named wp-admin, wp-content and wp-include. I also have another folder that has the theme I was using.

The only thing I can't find in the file manager is the content that I posted. Would this be only on the wordpress site?

    Thanks

That is stored in your database - not in any file. Where is your .co.uk domain name pointing to?
