    Hi Kelli,
By “attempts to access files that don’t exist”, do you mean when somebody tries to access pages on your website which don’t exist?

If so, we already have plans on implementing a feature which will listen for “404 Not Found” errors.

If not, can you please provide more info about the type of scenario you’re referring to?

I’m wanting this “404 Not Found” logs too.

I also use Better WP Security on some of my sites. It have Intrusion Detection feature which will log all access to non-exiting urls, and user can set auto block or ban the ip automatically after certain attempts in a period of time.

This feature is very useful to detect vulnerability scanning bots. Also good for detecting permalink issue that caused by theme/plugin problems.

One of the disadvantage I know is, if the autoblock feature turned on, it may block Google to crawls deleted/moved pages. On other side, if we don’t turn on the autoblock feature, it will let user to understand which url need to use 301 redirection which is good for SEO.

Setting to resolved because this is a feature request…..we will assess such requests as we decide on which new features to add.
