Error on the screen corner mean you’re (temporary) blocked from the site. You need to wait some minutes (or perhaps) hours depends on your settings. Try login again after the lockout expired.

when you can get back in adjust your lockout period accordingly since it blocks by IP in case you get blocked again, also check the logs to see why you were blocked, most likely due to accessing a page that no longer exists

I’ve been locked out of my own site twice today. Simply went to login page and logged in … then error top left of screen.

Had to delete the plugin via cpanel.

Logged in, reinstalled it, then immediately locked out again?

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks

Got into phpMyAdmin and deleted myself from the wp_bwps_lockouts table.
    That worked.

Now have to obviously adjust some settings somewhere.

It sounds Better WP Security is not compatible with some other plugins you’re currently using, or maybe you have enabled certain feature in Better WP Security that is not working for your situation. Perhaps you need to (temporary) disable other plugins, perform some tests and see if the login will work correctly or lock you out.

    Thanks Handoko …

I whitelisted 2 of my ip addresses (don’t have a static ip) in the 404 White List. That has stopped me getting locked out.

So it’s the settings in that section that need tweaking 😉

Whitelisting own IP addresses is a quick fix, but is not the best solution. The problem is still exist.

Did you remember the notification of the lock out?
    For example:
    —————————————-
A host, xxx.xx.xx.xxx has been locked out of the WordPress site at example.com until Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 at 2:46:04 am UTC due to too many attempts to open a file that does not exist.
    —————————————-

If you’re receiving too many attempts to open a file (404 errors) it may mean not-proper configured or plugin incompatible, usually because you have enabled the change wp-content directory feature.

Locked out too! With my FTP I changed the name of the plugin folder. I also deleted the Better WP Security part on my .htaccess and still when I try to login into mysite/wp-admin it takes me to http://mysite.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmysite.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1. Any idea, suggestions? Thanks.
