• I built a 50 page website and then I tried to register a menu on the functions.php file of my Child theme. I received the following error message: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ‘)’ in /home/content/65/11630665/html/wp-content/themes/education/functions.php on line 102

I don’t usually insert code, but I found this code on the WP support forum and I tried it with terrible results.

I immediately removed the text that I inserted, but the error message remained. Now I am locked out with this error message.

Could I reinstall the Child Theme to the server to fix this problem because it will replace the functions.php file?????

Thank you so much for your help.

  • you’ll need to comment out that line 102 in your functions.php file

Use an FTP client to connect to your site and edit the file.
