I am beyond frustrated. I have a fresh install of 2.1.3 that I just uploaded a few days ago, and initially I was able to log into the admin just FINE… and tonight, for some reason, when I go to:

    http://www.url.com/wp-admin it redirects to

    http://www.url.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwp-admin%2F

The login box is there, but when I enter the username and password (which I KNOW haven’t changed because I’m the ONLY USER!) it says “password incorrect.”

    – WP is in the root public_html directory of the site.
    – I have not made any changes to .htaccess involving redirects
    – I don’t know whether this is a 2.1.3 issue, but I recently upgraded another site to that version and I CANNOT risk having the same thing happen with that other site

Any advice is urgently appreciated. I have great respect for the developer community surrounding WordPress, but it’s been frustrating lately, staying up into the wee hours of the night trying to get my support questions answered when strange things occur.

  • I’m having the same problem, and haven’t found a solution for it yet. Does anyone have a fix or know of a possible reason for it happening?

I really don’t mean to bump this up, but it hasn’t gotten any replies and the problem is really starting to bother me.

It only happens on one of my blogs, and I have no idea what could be causing this sort of problem.

Alright had the same problem here is what is probably happening.

You have your domain set up to redirect people from blah.org to http://www.blah.org but your wordpress installation is set up for the address blah.org. I fixed this problem by disabling the redirection from blah.org to http://www.blah.org.

Also you need to allow cookies or you will just be sent back to the login page.

what was the solution for this? im having the same problem. mine just started last week for apparently now reason other than i’ve been posting a lot lately. i havent made any changes to my domain redirect (as i don’t know how to do that).

Trying to log into my blog controls I suddenly get this message:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/s/h/o/showa23/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-opt-in/wp-opt-in.php:404) in /home/content/s/h/o/showa23/html/wordpress/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 390

I haven’t changed anything and cookies are not blocked, although that’s the message I get when I tried to log in from the public view of the blog.
