    Hello -

I just upgraded (or tried to) to 3.1 using automatic install.
Now when I go to my admin login page i get this message.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function require_wp_db() in /data/17/2/10/73/2336562/user/2565484/htdocs/NotesObservation/wp-settings.php on line 71

This message also appears if I try to login from the site itself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

It seems that some files did not get uploaded on the automatic install
Do a manual upgrade by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Umm, how do I do that?

I'm hosted by network solutions, would I do the upgrade there?

Sorry, in my panic I am not being clear.

I know how to do FTP within NetSol. Just not sure which directory/File to upload the upgrade into.

My apologies and my thanks for your help.

I realize I have also been rude and not thanked you.

    Hi Samuel B -

I have been reading the instructions you suggested and still can not make it work. I can't upload the WP upgrade folder intact. Netsol makes you upload all many files and sub-folders individually.

I'm afraid I'm going to make things worse by unpacking everything and then uploading.

Is there anyway to undo the upgrade?

I'm getting email from my readers about the site being down and I don't know what to do.

    Thanks.

Did you make a database and server backup before upgrading? If not, no, not really.

Just go do the manual upgrade. It's scary, but it's not that bad :)

What folders precisely are you not able to upload?
The only two folders you have to upload are wp-admin and wp-includes.

    Hi Ipstenu

    I do have a back-up (every night!)

If I do the manual upgrade is it OK to have to unpack everything? Is there a particular order in which to do the upload?

I generally delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folder, and copy those up. Yes, your site will be down while that goes on, but it ain't working now so...

@kees - Sorry not a technical person (obviously) so bear with this description

    1. Netsol filemanger is open
    2. I'm in the .../wp-content directory
    3. When I go to upload, the upload system won't let me just grab the "wordpress" folder intact. Clicking on the folder opens it, so all the sub-folder and files are in view.
    4. I then tried a "multiple upload"
    5. I can grab the files, but when I hit a sub-folder that opens and all those files + sub-folders need grabbing individually.
    6. You can see the problem? I don't know how many individual files are in the original folder in downloaded, but I'm sure it's a lot.
    7. I'm afraid if I do go and upload each file I will really make a mess!

    Thanks!!

    2. I'm in the .../wp-content directory

First of all you need to upload to the root directory
(the directory with the the wp-admin and wp-includes folder in it)

    Ok, in .../NotesObservation

folders shown this this screen include
    Wp-admin
    Wp-content
    wp-includes

Same problem with folder needing to be unpacked and each file uploaded individually.

    :(

Unpack the wordpress package on your computer and upload the he wp-admin and wp-includes folder individually (not the whole wordpress folder)

What do you mean by this?

when i click on wp-admin to select it for the upload, instead of being selected and then I could hit choose and proceed with upload, the wp-admin folder gets opened so I see all of it's contents - individual files and more sub-folders.

Does your file manager look anything like this: http://www.networksolutions.com/support/using-file-manager/

Basic layout is similar, but not Plesk as shown in video.
    Mine is called cgi-fileman.

I hate to do this but I am now late for a client meeting. Is there anyway I can get in touch or re-activate this thread?
I'd also like to buy you a beer.

Can you click "Add new File" and click "Browse" and select the wp-admin folder and click ok. It will probably ask if you want to overwrite the existing folder. I'm not familiar with this file manager but I think that's the way to do it.
