• This is too weird. This morning I logged into my blog just fine. Made a post, did my thing, and logged out.

The entire blog is there and every place can be navigated to…

My problem is the system still thinks I’m logged in – and when I “logout” (for the millionth time) it still thinks I’m logged in.

I can get to the blog.com/wp-login.php page fine but it’s acting oddly. Has for some reason the username already filled in, flashes what would be the password, and then that disappears.

I retype the password and get to blog.com/wp-admin/ but it’s just a blank page.

At one point I was able to request to reset the password, but that didn’t work either. Again the wp-admin/ white screen of death.

I’d really like to avoid reinstalling (just changed hosting), and besides it was working like a charm this morning…????

Anybody with any knowledge to help get me back inside would be greatly appreciated. For what it’s worth I’m hosting at 1and1 using Plesk.

  • Did you recently add install a new plugin or new theme? Disable it via FTP by deleting or renaming the theme or plugin folder, or you can do that also via file manager or cpanel.

Thanks Mercime! I did install simple tags but I did not activate it, however, I’m not discounting that that might work. What the heck, can’t get in anyway 🙂

    Off to try!

Nope, didn’t do the trick. I don’t want to have to reinstall 🙁

You’ve probably worked this out by now but sounds like it’s simply a matter of your browser still containing the “cookie” (file used by browsers/sites to store data such as logins) issued by your blog. I can’t comment on why you’re unable to logout in the normal way, but if you clear your browsers cache (may also have to restart your browser) and re-visit your blog you should now be seen as a guest and able to login.

If this happens often you may need to update your browser, or change some settings (can’t help you there as I’ve not experienced this issue myself)…
