Localhost installation issues

OK, I’m not to clueless regarding website building. I,ve used several programs to do so. I downloaded wordpress onto my PC but there is no exe. file to open it. I really wanted to use this software but if it is difficult just to open it i don’t know if it’s for me. I’ve been at this for 2 hrs. and I’m about to give up!!! HELP!!!
