localhost install links not displaying correctly

Have used Duplicator 0.5.2 to copy a published wordpress site in order to run a copy locally for playing with some design updates.

Installation on a localhost database I created with MAMP on my Mac appeared to work perfectly at first – the homepage shows up perfectly, but clicking through on any of the links either displays pages and posts without proper layout/formatting, or simply sends me back to the online site version of that post instead of the new localhost address.

Not sure if it’s a database/php issue, whether I should look for redirects somewhere in my sites files, or whether its more simply a case of changing my permalink settings in the final installation step.
