Any suggestions for a localserver for development such as the XAMPP, that can run WP3.1 in Multisite mode using subdirectories?

  2. You mean other than XAMPP? Because that works.

And is your local machine a pc?

I cant seem to make XAMPP work om a multisite installation on local machine.

I have set it up a lot of times, so im sure im pretty right on the WP configuration, its the XAMPP i hassling with id reckon.

Any tips to make it work, do i need to modify the Win HOST files or soemthing?

  4. You'll have to be more specific with what issues you have, other than "can't make it work".

and yes, you'll need to modify the hosts file. I recommend a fake domain name like localhost.loc or myawesometestsite.loc.

(My local machine is an amd64 so mine is amd64.loc)

ok, so say i create a host record named "mylocalserver.loc" - and that should do it you reckon?

Do i need to give the site folder an extension as well, say: \htdocs\multisitetest.loc

  6. Make a host record, yes.

And no, do not give it that extension. treat it like a TLD.

Should i do anything about the rights of the blog.dir from the windows interface?..

  9. make sure the quotes are ' and not smart or curly quotes. If you copy/paste in windows, you get curly quotes. you need straight ones.

.. yeah, the code is all good.

Is this correct host file settings?
    127.0.0.1 / mylocalserver.loc

Do i need to config the XAMPP it self in any way to handle subdirectories?
