   Hi,
   I installed wordpress on localhost, it was a download from live site server.
   I can see my home page in localhost/mysitename
   but when i try to navigate to other pages i get "object not found" 404 error.
   what step did i miss.

   I am using Xampp

   Are you using a custom permalink structure? If so, is mod_rewrite running on your server?

   Check into esmi's suggestion, you may just need to access your localhost/wp-admin, Settings->Permalinks and press "Save Settings"
