   I'm interested in setting up a local installation of WordPress on my own computer, the idea is to keep track of my WordPress setup on my host's server. Can anyone inform me what I have to do to get PHP and MySQL installed locally on my Windows pc to accomodate WordPress ?

   Download xampp from apachefriends.org. It is absolutely the simplest install which will enable apache, php, and mysql all playing together nicely.

   BTW, it's a German site, but they have not only an English download page, but also a forum for support in English. Great folks.
