   I have a local install of WP, (2.3.2) on a .local domain. I have a local Exchange 2007 Server.

   When new users create accounts, they do not receive the email with the password.

   Do WP have a mail server that needs to be configured for this to work?

   Can you assist?

   No WP uses php's mail function. It is possible through some plugins to force it to use a smtp server. If you search through the plugin directory in the Extend section of wordpress.org I imagine you'll find one.
