Local install displays file directory instead of blog (3 posts)

I just installed WP 2.7 on my local XP machine; I'm running Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2, and MySQL 5.

I can view the dashboard just fine. However, when I try to "visit the site," I only get a file index (you know, the typical times roman "Index of /" with a listing of files in the directory. The WordPress files are all in the documentroot folder, along with the dashboard and associated pages, which all seem to work fine.

    Any thoughts?

You probably miss this line in your httpd.conf file for Apache.

    DirectoryIndex index.php

Also compare you httpd.conf file with one you have elsewhere ( if you have WP working elsewhere )

Despite feeling slightly silly for overlooking something so basic, I was thrilled to be able to close this out rather than extending it with another problem. Many thanks for your post...I love it when remedies are simple!
