Local host to FTP (15 posts)

I created a site on my local host using Xampp and I have now uploaded it to my FTP server but it displays oddly and still seems to be pointing at the local host. The website is http://www.keyframehq.com

I would be very grateful if someone could help me - is there a simple way to redirect all the links to the online server?

    Many thanks

    Neil

Seems to be a case of search and replace local host etc. with your site domain name before importing

Thanks, I've followed all of the instructions but now when I try to access my site I get the following message:

The requested URL / was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at http://www.keyframehq.com Port 80

    Can anyone advise?

    Many thanks in advance

    Neil

Thanks for your replies, but I've tried both tutorials and still having no luck. In the .sql file should I be replacing the local host with the name of my website i.e. http://www.keyframehq.com or the host address?

Also, my WordPress is uploaded to my remote server within a subfolder /website. Does this need to be included in the changed address text within the .sql file?

    Many thanks

    Neil

You'll have to access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and manually change the siteurl and home values.

Thanks for your reply. I have already made those changes but still not working.

Do I need to be including the subfolder in the siteurl and home values e.g. http://www.keyframehq.com/website ?

    Thanks

Yes, if all of the blog files are located in /website/, and you are not currently displaying the blog in the root directory, you should set both to http://www.keyframehq.com/website

Thanks, I've now made all the amendments suggested above and I'm still getting a '404 not found' error when I go to my web address.

Is there anywhere else I need to check to see if everything has updated to the new url? I've amended wp-config, siteurl, home, and edited and replaced all instances of localhost in my .sql file.

    Thanks again

    Neil

What directory are the WordPress files actually in? I'm not finding any of the standard WordPress files in the root directory nor /website/ .

Hmmm they should be in /website
Can you see any files there at all?

    Nope, nothing for http://www.keyframehq.com/website/index.php or http://www.keyframehq.com/website/wp-login.php or http://www.keyframehq.com/website/wp-rss2.php .

Sorry for not checking sooner, but it looks like the root of your problem is that the files just aren't there.

OK, that's great, I'll have a look now and see what's happened.

My domain name keyframehq points to a linux web host and I've used the ftp login details they gave me to transfer my files across to there. Is this the issue?

    Thanks

Possibly. You should probably contact your hosting provider about this.
