Local Avatar – not showing

Hello Just discovered you nice plug in…
I ve a blog with a lot people commenting but most of them are not tech-savy and they have not Gravatar.
So i added a “local Avatar” plugin ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-local-avatar/ )
but they don’t show up…
id there a way to make them show up ?

has anybody tested other local avatar plugins?
