I've been running a Blix mod. in WP2.x for several months. I got the bright idea to try a new theme -- the Alexified theme.

I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the theme, but here's what I did...

    Per the instructions, there's four Plugins that I activated: breadcrumb-navigation.php, customizable-post-listings.php, get-recent-comments.php & NiceCategories.php
    Then I activated the theme.

    After activation, everything just disconnected.

I cannot get to any admin pages either. That's the strange part.

The presentation was the only thing that I changed. I didn't touch 'core'.

Should I try and do another install at the host?

    THANKS!

    PS:
On another WP site on the same host It installed & uninstalled without a hitch, literally minutes before I tried the install on this site.

    Here's the poopie site: http://www.creativecomponent.com

One option would be to ftp to that site and yank out that theme directory (or rename it). In theory, that'd swing you over to the Default theme.

Tried to load the poopy site, but 60 seconds later it's still chugging along. If you have any sort of cache thingy going, did you clear the cache (on the wp server) after swapping theme?

Handy!!! Were you just waiting there for me to fail again? LOL...

I removed the theme on the server, but it's still chuggin'-on. Not sure about the cache part, which means - no, I didn't clear it.

    Scoob?

oh nos. I might be tapped out on Scooby references. Um...

    Zoinks!

Check under /wp-content and see if there's a /cache there. If there is, smoke what's in it.

I'm assuming based on last answer that you're not running the wp-cache plugin, but some versions of WP 2.x automagically enabled some built-in caching too.

Yes, but skeered to smoke it; here's what's in it...

    DIR: cache
    - index.php
    - wp_object_cache.lock
    - DIR: c4ca4238a0b923820dcc509a6f75849b
    - DIR: userlogins
    - DIR: users

Awwww.. Here's a screenshot: replace the domain...

Ya know, I'm probably a little cavelier about such things... but cache is cache ya know? It'll rebuild if it needs to. It certainly isn't meant to be permanent. Keeeel eeet!

Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm wasting your time here or not... Do you have anything besides WP on that server? Is it still working fine?

(thanks for the grats. see what happens when you never leave? they punish you)

    w00t!

Many thanks! As usual, you're Handy to have around. An to think I'm considering jumping into Drupal, when I can't grasp the simple notion of cache!

I loves me the WordPress though.
