Load in random post – but limit one per author

I’m using a loop to load in a specific category on a homepage and doing so randomly.

There is a limit of 3 posts. There are several authors. I don’t want any particular author to outweigh another, so I’d like it so no author can have more than one post shown.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this? I just need a push in the right direction… thanks!
