    Ok, this really issnt orginal but is based on and a slight improvement on the work of Broken and m0n5t3r.

    It allows you to have contents spell checked somewhat alike the way gmail does.

    You can download it here http://www.lab4games.net/zz85/blog/wp-content/zz85-plugins/ajax-spell-checker-0.4.zip

    Just extract, activate and run.

    Hope to hear from you. ")

    Interesting plugin. Unfortunately, it stripped the "<!--" and the "-->" from "<!--more-->" from my post, which was a tad annoying. Still, a great plugin.

    Doesn't work for me. When I click on "Check Spelling" in your blog zz85 nothing happens. Any ideas?

    Very cool. Works for me on FF 1.0.4 on Windows. I like the fact that it highlights the misspelled words and provides alternatives. Very impressive.

    *must resist urge to implement every plugin under the sun*..:)

    jpgodlew: I've no idea... but because I doing changes to my webpage, it could possible its not working.

    JuanManuel: Its possible. Under spell_checker.php,
    change
    $pspell_config = pspell_config_create("en");
    to
    $pspell_config = pspell_config_create("en_UK");
    for example.

    Is anyone working on a gmail like version of spellcheck for wysiwyg such as mudbombs?

    Updates.

    1. Link to my page has changed to http://www.lab4games.net/zz85/blog/wordpress-plugins/live-spell-checker/
    2. Latest version is 0.5

    a) some fixes to pspell
    b) integration with emil's spellchecker (check as you type style)

    This release would affect how future versions are going to be like.
    Do you like the old ajax spell_check method? or the new type? Or still the combination of both?

    Let's see our reactions.

    [forgot to add new in 0.5]
    port of emil's cgi spellcheck scripts to php.

    I really like this plugin, but is there any way of making the errors show up in a pop-up box, and then when you correct the errors, it automatically gets corrected in the text area

    injinuity, that the purpose of ajax spellcheck.. to have the spelling check without a new window. If you want a pop-up box, use coldforge spelling plugin at http://www.coldforged.org/spelling-checker-plugin-for-wordpress/

    Yeah, doesn't work for me either. Firstly, won't work in Safari on 10.3, and in Firefox on OSX it doesn't catch any misspellings at all.

  17. Ooo, I like. Gonna have to install this one. :)

    Your version 0.6 works with Camino (v1.0a1) on MacOS 10.39 -- Thanks

  19. Bah, if I have this plugin enabled on my server, my WordPress install won't load. It just sits there. :(

    I've been involved in producing an as-you-type spellchecker. It's called Jacuba and is available at http://www.jacuba.com

    It's only designed for plain textareas at the moment. But it does provide a dictionary and a thesaurus too. The best thing about it is probably that all the spellchecking is sent back to a central spelling server which means that there is no software to install in order to add it to a particular site - only a script tag is needed.

    I just installed this plugin and now my site isn't accessible at all. I just get a blank page if I try to go to the site or the admin page.

    Go in via an FTP client and delete the plugin. That should clear the problem.

    I have installed the plugin and I just realised that the spell-checking feature is available in the comments field also. That is somewhat disturbing the layout of my page. How do I disable that and make it available only to me while I am posting an article?

    Although it's not integrated into WordPress (yet, I imagine) using the Jacuba fave-let seems to be the simplest, most painless way's to deal with my poor spelling.

    I'm using it right now!

    Greetings.

    I’ve installed the plug-in, activated it, and created a file called .htaccess with the code found on the instructions.

    I’ve written technical support and my host supports PHP4 and PHP5 (although PHP5 needs a special extension), aspell, and mbstring.

    However, when I try the plug-in I get this…

    onnect() timed out!connect() timed out!connect() timed out!0This isn't a gooood speling

    What gives?

    It's been six months since the last post with problems. I want to install this on my WordPress 2.0.5 but I worry it still has problems... anybody using this now?
