List files in another hard drive or web location

    Hi,

    I’ve been using File Away with success, although I was wondering if it were possible to list files in another server or hdd (I’m running a local intranet) or from a web directory not related to the root wordpress folder.

    Whilst I have the PHP skills of a chimp, it seems all directories are locked to the WP root folder via ABSPATH. Is there anyway I can make File Away point to any location either locally or online?

    To go outside the WordPress installation directory, On the File Away settings page, just enter something like this into one of your Base Directory fields:

    ../outside_directory_name/whatever

    Do this: ../ for every step back you want to take outside of the WordPress installation directory.

    Hi,

    I don’t quite understand the description above.
    I can’t delete the predefined “/public_html/xxxx/” in the Base Directory settings?
    Can you give an example how to do if I would like to read from an external address such as: xxxx.xxxxx.com/docs/doc-folder/

    It’s a WordPress plugin. Listing files from another server simply will not be part of File Away’s bag of tricks. Sorry.

    Ok, thanks. I guess I got a little confused about the “../” thing 😉

    The ../ thing will allow you to point to files outside your WP install directory. Not to another server.
