I'm looking for a way to generate a list of posts sorted by the ones with the most comments. So for example a top three, where the top title has 16 posts, the second 12 and the third 3.
My php skills are somewhat limited, is there a way to add some simple code to 'get_posts' to achieve this result? I know there is a plug-in called 'customizable-post-listings' but the way it outputs the code makes it very hard for me to style the result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its 5 months ago you asked this question here, but its still unresolved... Now i can help you and proudly present my new plugin (it can do exactly what you aksed for) :D
http://www.rene-ade.de/inhalte/wordpress-plugin-postlists.html ...just use the build in example placeholder MYMOSTCOMMENTEDPOSTS for example. Just activate the plugin and type in "MYMOSTCOMMENTEDPOSTS" into a post, page or text widget. If you save and view it, the placeholder will be replaced to a list of most commented posts... exaclty what you need :)
