Hi, i was trying to install wordpress but i got lot's of database errors, eg:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '/blog_categories ( cat_ID bigint(20) NOT NULL auto_increment,]
    CREATE TABLE wp/blog_categories ( cat_ID bigint(20) NOT NULL auto_increment, cat_name varchar(55) NOT NULL default '', category_nicename varchar(200) NOT NULL default '', category_description longtext NOT NULL, category_parent int(4) NOT NULL default '0', PRIMARY KEY (cat_ID), KEY category_nicename (category_nicename) )

I have all the requirements for this system, so I need some help if you guys dont mind.

    Thanks in advance

Try deleting the files and reuploading, being sure to upload as ASCII files, not binary.
Do delete first though - overwriting is totally guaranteed to screw things up.

after reuploading all in ascii mode, it has the same errors on the database. any other solution please? why it can't create the tables?

In your wp-config.php, what is your table_prefix ?

    This line puzzles me
    "CREATE TABLE wp/blog_categories"

wp_ is indeed fine, but in that bit above, the / might be breaking things.

Which host are you with ?
Using phpmyadmin, can you see if there are any created tables and if so what names they have ?

    Hmm.......

    "CREATE TABLE wp/blog_categories"

WP creates a table called "categories" and to distinguish that from any other tables, it asks for a table_prefix. So anything before the "categories" is user-supplied - and in this case it looks like the table_prefix is "wp/blog_"

You are certain that this is not the case ?

    if i put the table_prefix to "wp/blog_"

    its errors with this...
    CREATE TABLE wp/blog_/blog_categories

Hmm ... you are installing onto 'localhost'
    This is your machine ?
If so, what is the OS / php / mysql setup ? Xampp ?

    I'm a hardcore WinXP guy myself :)

It looks like the database name is being dragged into the equation somewhere, and as i have no knowledge of Linux, I'm at a loss.
(I'll edit the thread title to hopefully attract an answer)
