At the moment, that link is to a blank page…
But just in case:
Your Permalinks may be broke. Check that page for troubleshooting tips.
In particular, confirm with your host that mod_rewrite and AllowOverride are both on and enabled.

If you would, please try it again. I have been playing with switching themes and seeing if I can’t figure out why my new theme that I have created is not working.
And, yes, I am currently reading the Permalinks page, the Themes page, the Changing File Permissions page, and the Admin panels page. I don’t feel like I am getting where I want go, though….
At first blush, I’ll stick with my original post. 🙂
If you visit Options -> Permalinks and choose “Default”, do the links start working?

I’ll try and let you know….
I changed it and got this message:
You should update your .htaccess now.
However, there is no .htaccess file on the server at the moment. As said before, I did not do the original install of wp, so I don’t know what happened to the file. I was reading the documentation to figure out how to make another one…
Do I need to create and update the .htaccess file before the new permalink structure will take?

Sweet! The links now work! Yay!!!
Now back to the theme problem…
I’m having the same problem. I’ve worked with WP a lot, and I have a basic understanding of how the permalink settings function — but I may be missing something.
When I have the permalink settings on default, the links are structured like this:
root/page_id=N
That is turning up a ‘Not Found’ error. When I manually enter ‘index.php?’ before the page_id, it works, and I can find the page at
root/index.php?page_id=N
If I adjust the permalink settings, I get the same behavior. Thus links formatted as root/%category%/%postname%/
can be found at
root/index.php?%category%/%postname%/
This applies to all links generated by WordPress apart from the index link. My permissions on .htaccess are set at 666, and I have verified that WordPress is succeful at writing to .hataccess. I have several other WP sites with this host, and none of them have this problem — all of them worked right out of the box.
Can anybody help me with this? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
