Links to languages on menu not working

Hey, I tried adding flags to both languages I use on my site by following these instructions:
But for some reason both flags direct to the default language. Meaning, even though I linked English to mydomain.com/en/ it shows up as the default link – mydomain.com
What could be the cause?
