[resolved] Links redirecting to homepage (9 posts)

After the update to 3.2.1 many links have started to redirect to the homepage when clicked. I am noticing this specifically with BuddyPress (updated) and BuddyStream. These both actually seem to run off of BuddyPress. I have tried getting assistance from BuddyPress but they have not been very helpful and then there have been no additional responses for about a week.

I am reaching out to you guys in hopes of finding some other information. I have already tried changing/saving my permalinks per BuddyPress and that didn't change anything.

    Please advise.

I also tried re-installing WordPress... not sure why/if it would work but it didn't.

    Thanks again...

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Esmi, thank you!

I finally figured out what the issue was. I had to keep the BuddyPress plugin active and the BuddyPress Activity Stream Bar, after that I started to activate random plugins and deactivating them if no changes occurred. Come to find out it was a plugin called BuddyPress Backwards Compatibility that was developed by the BuddyPress Community. I verified this issue and it is 100% that plugin. I have let them know.

    BuddyPress Backwards Compatibility

Code that is needed to maintain backwards compatibility with previous versions of BuddyPress. Contains code for wire component, status updates, and functions that have been renamed or replaced.

Version 0.6 | By The BuddyPress Community

Thank you again for all of your assistance!

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. Maybe your solution will help someone else. :-)

    Yeah, hopefully! :D

  7. The BuddyPress Backwards Compatibility plugin was intended to help plugins migrate from BP 1.1-1.2, where there were a significant amount of under-the-hood changes. Any modern BP site (read: in the last 18-24 months) won't need it.

Yeah, good to know. I didn't install it myself though. It auto activated when I updated BuddyPress... that was also one of the reasons why I had no idea it was even there. I didn't search it, download it, or install it. Was a part of the brand new BP package.

Glad we got it all sorted out!

I did have some problems with WP doing some weird stuff... so maybe that is when the activation occurred.
