  • I see links for both website code and forum code.

    Did you get this resolved?

I can make a link outside of wordpress, but the wordpress linkmaker does not work at all. With every improvement, WordPress becomes harder to use. Prior to the improvements, this task was a piece of cake.

I’m not sure what you mean by “a link outside of wordpress”.

“wordpress linkmaker” — you mean the “create link” icon in the visual editor?

What exactly are you trying to link to?

I use Frontpage to write simple html code and nothing else.

I make the link just like I would any other html link.
Then I paste the link into the article using the code button WordPress provides. I can put a link in an article that is visible that way but it is a lot of trouble.

The “create link” function does the same thing but the link will not show up in the article. The code will show up looking at it in edit form but the link will be invisible on the page that gets read.

I didn’t answer your last question. I am a songwriter. Some links go to an mp3 file or just a regular url

There’s your problem right there. Frontpage was discontinued in 2003 and is not keeping up with changes in WordPress (or anything else on the web for that matter).

Why not just use the Visual editor in WordPress and then you don’t need to worry about writing html. It’s what blogging platforms like WordPress were designed to do.

Why make Frontpage the issue when it is the “create link” that is not working? The html I make using html code with Frontpage works fine in WordPress. It is the same code I would get if I wrote it myself.

Can we focus on what is wrong in WordPress instead?

The “create link” function is what is not working.

Because as far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with WordPress. I don’t use Frontpage to write WordPress posts and I have no issue creating links, even in the newest version.

If you think this really is an issue with WordPress, try disabling all of your plugins and seeing if it resolves itself. If it does, one of your plugins is what is giving you the trouble.
