Link to certain page of home-page query results?

I want my post permalinks to take you to the paginated home page, paged back to the appropriate page and centered on the appropriate post. So it would be as if you had pressed “Older posts” several times and then clicked on a link to an anchor within that post.

Is there a good way to form a normal home query, but then default to page x, where x is the page that the post requested by the permalink lies on?

I suppose it would have to take into account posts_per_page…
