    what do you mean by

    link to my own page

do you mean a custom link rather than the event page? if so, that can be done using attributes to create a url attribute, and using that placeholder in our calendar formatting. This will only work with our internal calendars though, not with wp fullcalendar (can be done, but coding is needed).

    Thanks Marcus,

I don’t quite understand the Events Page. Editing it in WP shows a blank page.

I will look at the event-attribute.

Why cannot I not see the add event under the events menu?

    Regards
    Pete

    Hi Pete,

When using the Events page that Events Manager creates when it’s first activated, you need to make sure the word CONTENTS appears within the page on a separate line.

The word CONTENTS will get replaced with your event info when the page is viewed on the site.

You can add your own content above or below CONTENTS if you like.

Sorry, My fault, it does contain CONTENTS.
I think I must have a faulty install or something. I do not have an option to create an event, I cannot fond anything in the setting to control this. Maybe there’s a conflict with another plugin.

    Pete

That sounds possible. Try deactivating all other plugins and seeing if the correct menus reappear.

OK, tried disabling plugins but nothing seems to work.

Uninstalled EM and re-installed. Seems good, the add event menu option is there, created an event, Added short code for calendar on my home page, great, clicked the event date, the single page opens, but all widget areas are filled with the details of the event.

Also, the events link in the nav bar doesn’t go anywhere. I need to understand more about integrating EM into this framework.

I’ve seen this a couple of times recently, and it’s always to do with servers/sites using index.php in their permalink.

However, WP is handling permalinks for events/em-pages entirely now, so it may be an internal mixup with permalinks and CPTs sharing similar base slugs, and I think the solution in these cases is to use a different slug for your events page.

that said, normally the symptom is a 404 page, in your case it looks like it could be a php error (or an incomplete theme?)

    Marcus,

I’m sorry, not sure I understand a lot of this, quite new to WP. I have change the permalinks to the default and it still causes a problem. Not sure how the change the slug. As for incomplete theme, again, not sure how the test/check this. I’m using the Headway framework, which is very professional and comprehensive.

It looks to me that when I click the calendar link it opens my single page (I have not customised a events page). Again, not sure how the check this.

As for the Events link, I’m still not sure about the integration.

    Hi Pete,

Changing the slug used for the Events page can be done via Events > Settings > Pages > Permalink Slugs.

Marcus is suggesting changing that to something else, in case there’s some kind of clash.

    (@pzh20)

Ok, I changed the slug to events-2 but still the same.

This is such a shame, I really like the functionality of this plugin.

    Pete

Seems to be working now? When I go here:
    http://www.creakeabbeycafe.com/wp/?page_id=656
I see the events being listed.

    no, look at the footer!

Where did you get that link from?

    Pete

The link is the one that’s in the top menu bar of your site. That was one of the problems mentioned before, but that seems to be fixed now.

For the problem with the footer – are you using any kind of secondary version of The Loop? If you don’t know what that means you probably aren’t 🙂

Presumably, you’re using two widgets for the footer? What happens if you remove the current widgets?

If you’re not using widgets for those first two columns in the footer, what happens if you add one?

    Thread Starter pzh20

    (@pzh20)

Yes the footer uses the loop but the email box at the top just uses a widget.

I seems to have read something about resetting the loop. Is that something EM needs to do?

Obviously, Headway, the framework I’m using, resets the loop because it displays many of it’s ‘blocks’ using loops to for example display posts from different categories.

    Regards
    Pete
