Hi, I wan to be able to link directly to articles and websites (other content) from my static homepage, so that users can by-pass my post pages altogether, when I deem it appropriate.

Does anyone know of a hack or code or plugin or method from the admin panel that will allow me to do this?

By the way, my site is leakbird.com and you can see that I put up several posts a day, some of which I would like to link directly from the static homepage.

Maybe this isn't possible and defeats the purpose of utilizing the WordPress content management system.

    Thanks!

Perhaps you could mark the ones you want to display as "sticky", then get all of the sticky posts in a post loop for your static home page and display them. You could also create a "home page" category and tag them, but this category will then show in the post. Either way, you can "stick" posts to the front page and remove them later when they no longer need to be there.

Note: If you do mark items as sticky, then on your normal post page those sticky ones will appear at the top. You would need to modify the post loop on the posts page to not order by stickiness.

Are you familiar with using the post loop? If not, you may want to read this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop
