    Hi,
    Whenever I scroll through the blog section of my website http://www.internetsalesrules.com , only 3-4 lines of each article is initially visible.In order to read the whole article we have to click on the "continue reading" link below each article.
    How can the number of lines visible for each article be increased???(say upto 10-15 lines)

    Thanks

  2. You can modify the length of the excerpt by applying a filter like so - http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_excerpt#Control_Excerpt_Length_using_Filters

    Hi Christine,
    I followed the link you gave and it does works.Yes, the number of visible lines for a particular article increases but the image and links mentioned in the article are not displayed.
    Suppose I have an article of 400 words and I give a return value of 1000 in this function:-
    function custom_excerpt_length( $length ) {
    return 1000;
    }
    add_filter( 'excerpt_length', 'custom_excerpt_length', 999 );

    where , the return value (here 1000) specifies the number of visible lines for an article.So , in this case whole of the article(an article of 400 lines) must be visible with images and links mentioned.
    But, it is not functioning as expected i.e. "continue reading" link still persists(for this case).
    Please help.
    You can have a look at our problem http://internetsalesrules.com/blog

    Thanks ,

  5. In that case, you'll want to change the excerpt to the content instead.

    Forget about the filter in your functions.php... get rid of that and instead in your index.php, find the_excerpt() and replace it with the_content()

    That will pull the entire article instead of just the beginning few lines.
