Limited Avatar Selection

I’ve successfully modified the default avatar for my site, and in fact added about 10 different ones, thinking that this would give users a list to choose from.

Is it possible (is there a plugin?) to give my users a limited list of possible avatars? Even better would be to choose the avatar for them based on a custom selection in the profile page.

Any help would be appreciated, whether it be code or direction to a plugin.
