limit number of posts (7 posts)

I am using wordpress 3.0.1 and running the twenty ten child theme. I have had trouble limiting the number of posts on my front page. When I had gone through the "Reading" tab in the dashboard, the number doesn't stick.

Ideally, what I want is this. 10-15 blog posts per page. I would like them in date order of newest posts first.

I have tried a few plug-ins as well, the most recent being custom post limits. It shows the 15 newest posts, but does not stop more from being listed on the front page. I would love some direction on this. Thanks!

    have you tried:

-deactivating all plugins. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the culprit?

If you don't have access to to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

-if that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme (Twenty Ten) by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes to rule out any theme-specific issue?

If you don't have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I did deactivate the plugins through the administration area, and I still have the problem. I cannot do it through FTP since I use WordPress through network solutions. I am at a loss as to what to do. I did notice some plugins could be deactivated, but not deleted. So I'm not sure if that is a clue to the problem.

I am at a loss, and would definitely like to hear other suggestions since I have 90 posts on the front page. My site is adellaavenue.com Thanks!

look in your theme editor, index.php and see if you see any code pertaining to query_posts or my query, etc

if you are unsure about the code, you can copy all your index.php code from your theme and paste it here
    http://pastebin.wordpress.com

and reporta link back here to the code

When I click on the pastebin link it says the site does not exist. Can I just copy the code on a reply post? Or is there something missing from the link?

    I'm a dummy, sorry! http://wordpress.pastebin.com

you can't paste code here really, if its more than a few lines, moderators will delete it as its messy and makes threads hard to read. Its easier to work in the pastebin. If you have a small block of code with a question about it, by all means paste it here. But more than about 10 lines the pastebin is better
