Lightword Theme 1.9.6 Change RSS Banner into two buttons

    I’m now in the process of using the Lightword theme for a new site.

    However, instead of using the “subscribe via rss” banner. I would like to place two buttons there. One for twitter, one for RSS (perhaps in the future LinkedIn).
    I want to achieve this without killing the function. I would like to put it on/off.. However, I seem not to be able to change it. Whatever I try, I’ll just create a white screen of death..

    Can you advise me of how I can go about and replace the rss banner with two buttons?
