@randiferous – Are you using a custom template or are you expecting to use the default thumbnail template?

I’m using the default thumbnail template

@randiferous – I should have been more clear in my original query … the “default” template is actually no template at all, is this the default you are referring to?

The other “templates” are hold-overs from NextGEN Legacy and some do not always work as expected.

I did have paths set in the Gallery Settings>NextGEN Basic Compact Album and also the NextGEN Basic Thumbnails. I have cleared them out but I am still getting the same error message.

@randiferous – Have you tried using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options and then clearing the image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous.

Yes, I tried that and just tried it again. Cleared cache in my browser and tried it in FF, Chrome and Safari (on a mac). No luck.

@randiferous – Have you tried temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme, or the Parent-Theme, to see if that helps with this issue?

Otherwise, we may need to get a closer look at this via a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic), although our past experience with the Divi theme has not shown any issues, child-themes of Divi have in one particular case.

    Thanks!

I tried both the Divi parent theme and a couple of the Twenty themes. Would it help to uninstall and reinstall the plugin on the staging site?

@randiferous – I didn’t notice anything in particular in the page source indicating you would need to re-install but you could give it a try.

I have re-installed the plug-in but I am still getting the “Not a valid template” message. Any other suggestions that I might try?

I got it to work! I put in the short code for this page http://www.randykarey.com/halstead-portraits/portraits-of-people-in-professional-roles/

and it worked! I am going to put in short codes for all the other galleries now too. I think that perhaps even though I had the latest version of the plugin the code generated was legacy code? I’m not sure but all I know is it appears to be working. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

@randiferous – You’re welcome. Please let us know if anything else happens that you do not expect … just send us a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with all of the details so we can have a look at it specifically.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
