Licensing and duration

Hi,

I can’t work out from the WordPress or product sites if the license is a one off fee or it it is a license for this version. i.e. if I purchased a license now would it cover all future releases or only up to a certain point, and if that is the case what’s the release schedule and likely life of the license?
