I moved my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and am not happy with my host. After some research I've found a new host and they have a free transfer offer. They'll move my blog over to their domain and set it up again.
I have had trouble with the first migration and reading the instructions for moving to a new server it sounds like I might have a problem with this too.
Is letting the webhost do the transfer a good idea or something I should avoid?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
It really depends on how knowledgeable the host is on WordPress.
Generally it is my preference to do it myself as I do some clean up at the same time (i.e. deleting old plugins, database cleanup etc.).
Just my $0.02 worth.

Thanks for your input.
My site has only been on wp.org for a few days so I probably don't have a lot to clean up and I don't even want to go near the database!
I'm switching to hostgator.com. Does anyone have any experience with them regarding this? They can't possibly know any less than I do.
Probably try and do a search on reviews of few hosting companies.
I haven't been hosted by them before so I cannot accurately comment on that.
You can also try emailing their support and judge from their replies.
