   I just upgraded to 2.8 and it seems that left column in administration had disappeared. Maybe it is there but I am just plug-ins, appearance etc.

   Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

   Finally, try switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

   Thanks for the reply. I have cleared the cache and reinstalled the the include and admin directories. I have tried to access /blog/wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.php but there is an error message that says that the files can not be downloaded. It is not executed.

   Can I go into the database and turn the plug-ins off?
