Newbie setting up a blog using wordpress.org. I want readers to get RSS feed of new posts but I would also like to know who (or at least how many) are recieving feed of new posts. Since there is apparently an inbuilt RSS feed in the software do I need to do anything? If yes to that question how do I know the feed is working and how many people are subscribing? If I do need to do something is it some set up or should I add something like Feedburner?

The feed will work perfectly fine "out of the box," but you will need to add something if you want to track subscribers. There are two ways (that I know of) to track feed subscribers.

The free way: Sign up for an account with Feedburner.

The not free, but better way: Buy Mint, use the Bird Feeder Pepper and this plugin.

Thanks macmanx, very comprehensively answered. Since I am learning I'll go the free route for now but keep your advice for when I know a bit more and can use Mint effectively.
