I have an existing Intuit website; downloaded/installed WP, which took a little time in Windows 7. Now that the installation has finished I can’t figure out how to launch WP. I didn’t get a desktop icon and can’t find it in my program direcory.

How do I get WP running so I can add a blog to my website?
    Thanks,

  • You have to install WordPress to the server where your website lives, not your own computer.

    Hi geotjam,

    Please see the page here:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

WordPress is not an application that you install/launch like you would other things on your computer. You need to have a server to upload the files to (using FTP for example) as well as the ability to create a database (MySQL). If that all sounds like gibberish to you, you might want to get someone with a little experience with hosting servers to help you out! Another option would be a WordPress.com website, which is slightly more restrictive but about as easy to set up as an e-mail account!

    Hope that helps!

Thanks to all for your help!!! I think i have it

Where is and what is the file name of the WP page I created… located in the file manager on Go Daddy?

I want to delete it and start over…

I am an old line by line coder and this newfangled canned contraption has me in a spin..

I added some plugins and the page totally changed the layout… What’s up with that?

Now I cannot get to WP to manipulate the code.. Where does that live after I closed it?

Can Someone please help the old guy?
