    Hi there!

We have had an old version w3tc installed for over a year. Today we decided to update to the latest version of the plugin. After a minute or so after the plugin got activated all CPU got consumed and the number of apache threads spinned off like crazy. We deactivated the plugin and removed the old configuration and reactivated the plugin. The problem was still there, even without having any caching activated in the plugin.

We're running the latest version of WP and Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu)

Happens to me as well, since I update the plugin drastically increase the Load Average.

    Support the KnownHost said:

"The load was high since Apache is taking tons of time to featch content from W3tc folder.

    ----

As you can see the above process is in the "D" state and consuming 3.7% of CPU power. While tracing the above process, I could see that majority of the time is spent for fetching data from /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/cache/ folder."

Pardon my English is Google Translate xD

Likely due to a recently introduced database caching bug that leaves a growing number of files behind (tens of thousands of them) in the cache directory.

    See http://wordpress.org/support/topic/cache-not-clearing-get-white-screen-instead?replies=8

to clear the cache manually if the plugin can not.

    Sean.
