  • I have the same problem. Possibly caused by updating NextGen before upgrading to WP 3.6. The standard cure seems to be to delete the files for whichever plug-in causes the problem but this seems to be impossible: NextGen doesn’t allow itself to be deleted either by FWP or from the edit software on the server. As a result my website is completely blank. I’ve uploaded the WP3.6 files but that hasn’t helped.

Anyone trying to fix the problem with rolling back Nextgen may be interested in this post here on WP http://wordpress.org/support/topic/overloaded-nextgen-gallerycom

same i had to rename the folder of the plugin and page come back, i installed manually an older version of nextgen gallery and it doesnt work with worpdress 3.6 i tried using the default theme of wordpress then nextgen gallery and too page broken.

This sux i can believe it they release a new version useless with wordpress 3.6

Thanks for the help. I managed to get rid of the plug-in, which solved the problem. Now I’m rid of it I’ll think long and hard before using it again.

My clients are beginning to complain. All of my sites using NextGen are broken since updating to WordPress 3.6. The Gallery Settings menu appears to be corrupted. If an update is not online within 24 hours, I’m out of here, NextGen Gallery.

My client is also very anxious. I haven’t told her that I can’t get her photo gallery up yet, but my deadline for building her entire website is TOMORROW. I am freaking out, to say the least. Not to mention that this person is a celebrity. I’m going to wait by my computer all day today until this is fixed.

Hi all – a few thoughts / questions here.

My first instinct is to say that problem isn’t WP 3.6 per se, but other issues in NextGEN 2.0 that are causing issues. We’ve updated quite a few sites to 3.6 without problems, while here on the forums we are seeing quite a few issues with NextGEN 2.0 even on WP 3.5.2 or earlier.

Can anyone here confirm that you updated to NextGEN 2.0 and know everything was working fine, and then updated to WordPress 3.6 and it then broke?

If you upgraded to 3.6 and then 2.0, it’s quite possible you would have had the same issue regardless of the 3.6 update, and we’d need to diagnose otherwise.

With that a few thoughts about solutions and troubleshooting.

*Don’t click the “uninstall” link in your backend. As with all plugins, that removes all relate files. For NG, that includes images.

The first and most direct solution: roll back to NextGEN 1.9.13 right now and wait for a more stable subsequent update of NextGEN. Here’s a rollback guide:

    http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

Second solution: We’ve introduced some fixes for numerous issues already, but are waiting to fix some more and test before pushing out a release. We decided to make the most up-to-date version available here:

    http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta

You can try updating and see if that resolves your issues. If not, you can always still roll back.

Finally, as a third place to look for solutions, you might consider looking through the thread on known plugin and theme conflicts to see if any of those match the issues you are having. If they do, you could solve it be deactivating the other conflicting plugin.

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/known-plugin-conflicts-with-nextgen-20?replies=79

Beyond that, we or you would need to troubleshoot what’s happening.

If you are going to do additional troubleshooting beyond the above, the first thing to check is plugin conflicts. Try deactivating other plugins one by one to see if there is one not playing well with NG. We already know of at least 25 various conflicts, so this is an extremely likely possibility.

For anyone above, you are also welcome submit a bug report and include your credentials and we’ll take a direct look. Given the volume, though, it may take a few days. Please include as much detail as possible about the issue.

    Thanks.

Being a bit lazy, and finding that WP would automatically upgrade,I upgrades NextGen first. This caused the website to blank out completely. I do have Contact Form 7 on the site as well which others have reported as a possible conflict.

Running WordPress 3.5.2 and automatically upgraded from NextGen 1.9.13 to 2.0.0 which resulted in albums not displaying properly. NextGen could not find the images within the albums and could not display the album itself properly. Legacy shortcodes are being used to point to the albums. I attempted to use the newer shortcodes but NextGen was still broken. I deactivated the NextGen plugin, renamed the /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ folder to /…/nextgen-gallery-OLD and replaced the /…/nextgen-gallery folder with the backed up folder from the previous version and everything works as it did before the upgrade. The plugin section of Dashboard confirmed NextGen 1.9.13 had been restored. Then I automatically upgraded from WP 3.5.2 to WP 3.6 and NextGen 1.9.13 worked fine with WP 3.6. I am hesitant to try NextGen 2.0.0 again however, after the experience.

In one of my WP site I had v3.5.1 and I upgraded first to NG 2.0. I gote the messagt that only with WP 3.5.2 o 3.6.

I upgraded to 3.6, but NG 2.0 was in a way broken (admin layout). UL a new NG 2.0 using FTP fixed the problem.

I rolled back to fix the problem and am afraid to try to reinstall it. I’ll wait for another update, I guess, but it kinda sucks.

I can confirm that things were working after I updated WP. I then updated NextGen to 2.0 and all the pages that featured the gallery broke in the way I first mentioned.

I moved on to Wow Slider.

@twinpilot – We have a beta available if you feel comfortable giving it a try that should resolve the album issue you’re seeing, see: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/ . If you decide to give it a try, please let us know how it works out for you. Otherwise, we have an update which will resolve several known issues, that we plan on releasing within the next week.

@carlos Revilla – Thank you very much for sharing what worked for you, good to know refreshing the plugin files worked 🙂

I rolled back to the prior version and it is functioning again. I am running WP 3.6. I updated to 3.6 first on a clients site, checked the site and everything was working, then updated to Next gen 2.0, and that is definitely where the problem occurred.

@emeadow – have you given our recent beta a try, and do the issues persist with that version installed?
