larger content area in standard template of twentyfourteen

    I tried to have more content space in the standard template of the twentyfourteen theme. Unfortunately I was not successful. I tweaked the CSS (page-content) but it didn’t help. I should have at least 560 px of space in order to display 3 columns of pics in a certain Thumbnail-Gallery (which I cannot adapt itself).
    Now I am searching for a solution to achive this. Does anyone have an idea?
