I used the WordPress automatic update function and it said sucessful update, but then the page changed to a white page with no text at all. Never had problems with this before…

Also my website wouldn’t show anymore (white page). I had to insert my backup – then it worked again (but it is 3.6). I have tried a couple of times with same bad result.

It should work with all the plugins I have before, since it never failed before.

    Thanks

If it helps, I see this in my server’s error log, several lines of the same error, in both wordpress installations I have :

“PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home7/esoundsc/public_html/astrablog/wp-includes/user.php on line 215”

Resolved, deactivated all plugins before updating (I never had to do this before) … will figure out later which darn plugin prevented the update.

I think ive made the same mistake!!
how did you reinstall and keep your data?

I use Bluehost, and since backup is so important, I subscribed to their Site-Pro Backup, it has been very useful many times and very convenient. I can easily restore the whole WordPress installation with a few clicks.

Of course, I still use a WordPress backup plugin too, http://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/. I like it as it works very well with shared servers, as long as one excludes all unnecessary files like caches.

So, if you have no backup, you can download the WordPress previous version, and install. I am not sure if WordPress 3.7 changes the SQL database, you’ll have to check. If yes, and you have no backup, I guess you need to tell your host provider to do it.
