WP SlimStat
[resolved] "Known Visitors" includes names which have never posted AND don't have account. (12 posts)

    Hey Camu,

I was looking through my stats and noticed a couple of names under "Recent Known Visitors" that do not align with either any name every associated with a post or with any user on my site.

My working assumption is that these names represent attempted pots blocked by Akismet, but this is rather confusing. Assuming that my assumption is indeed correct, I wonder if there would be some way to handle this case. I don't necessarily think they should be remove from Known Visitors, but maybe include some kind of notation indicating that they never actually made a successful post.

    Hi Dan

have you checked the contextual help tooltip that appears when you hover the little 'info' icon associated to that box? ;)

    Take care,
    Camu

    Hey Camu,

Yes, I read it, but that was included in my initial post. My point is that the users listed have never posted on my blog, or at least not posted anything that made it through to my review.

I'm assuming that Akismet intercepted some post previously which prevented any post, but did not preempt Slimstat picking up the name. Assuming this is the case, the end user will not have this middle bit of information, making the seemingly random names appearing in this listing possibly confusing since they have never posted (as far as the end user knows) and they don't have an account.

    Dan,

what I meant to say with my previous message is that those known visitors are not necessarily 'registered' users. What is shown is the nickname they used when they left a COMMENT on your site. So in other words those are your commenters. Registered users can be tracked with our premium add-on at

    Hope this answers your question.

So as i understand from camu, there is no feature in free version of this plugin for tracking registered users (their login, activity,...). Am i correct?

No, you're not correct. Known visitors groups both commenters AND registered users. The add-on offers some extra information about when they last logged in, etc...

Thanks for the clarification, Camu, but the initial issue is still unresolved. The names listed have never posted on my site, registered or not.

Have you enabled the option to ignore spammers?

Sorry camu. I couldn't see that info ballon because it runs out of page in my language (Persian). Anyway, can SlimStat recognizes the users who already have logged in and now just use cookies for entering site Admin page (i.e. without opening wp-login.php page at first)?

Does slimstat tracks dashboard pages? I mean authors who just use dashboard for writing posts, etc. (without opening any page from website) ?
