    Maybe it works creating a post in all categories and adjust the timestamp
    to a date in the far future...

    If a post has a date in the future it doesn't show up until that date/time.

    There used to be a sticky post hack somewhere....

    Yes, I use a variant of the sticky post hack. I thought someone had made a sticky post plugin that worked by setting a meta-tag on a given post.

    Did 1.5 not pull in something like this? If not, I could probably roll a plugin of some sort together -- I need it anyway to migrate my site from 1.0 to 1.5 anyway...

    That would be great. I saw that stickypost plugin somewhere but I'm not sure that it performed this exact function
