I have just started using achievments and had a question about rewarding for points earned. Is it possible to give users incentives to earn points like upgraded user roled in forums, more invites, discounts in wp-ecommerce or anything like that?

    Thank you

It would be down to those other plugins, or some custom code you wrote yourself, to do these things. Possibly if someone had an idea that was super useful to 90% of the people who use Achievements, I might build something in.

I should add I am thinking about letting a note be displayed to users when they unlock an achievement. You'd set this from the create achievement screen, so you could add a link to a page, or display a discount code etc.

This sounds like a good idea, actually. What do you think?

I like that idea a lot. I do have a concern however. If it displays a discount code it would most likely be a generic code so it could easily be shared. I suppose I could block the codes from being posted on the site through buddypress forums and what not.

I'm trying to think of the simplest way to do something like this. I don't want to really edit any core files of plugins so I'm thinking about a plugin that would detect the unlocked achievements the user has received that could simply let them use the discount code in wp-ecommerce. Otherwise it blocks them from submitting it to the form or somthing. That way it doesn't really interfere with the wp-ecommerce plugin itself and one code could be used even if users send it to others. It's a bit of a work around, but it seem like a possible simple solution.

That could be a really bad idea, but it's the first thing I thought of just now. ha.

When the message customisation goes in, I'll be sure to add filters etc so you can adjust/add a unique store code per user.

Very cool. Thanks for such a fast response.

Once the note is displayed and the user leaves will they have access to retrieve that code at a later date if needed?

Er, probably not in the first version. Right now, they'd have to get listed on the author achievement page, so they are 1) always public and 2) will be identical for each user, and that sounds a bit like duplicate content from a SEO POV.
